Feel Good Desserts Vegan Macarons

Over the weekend, I discovered vegan macarons! I really cannot contain my excitement about this. You see, I never had a macaron before going vegan. So it’s not that seeing them everywhere for the past couple of years has been making me miss them. But it has been making me curious about them. What the texture is like, what they taste like, why are there so many flavors? I wanted to know. But… Not being able to find vegan macarons meant that my questions would go unanswered. This weekend I stopped into Republic of V, a newly opened all vegan grocery store in Berkeley, and they had vegan macarons from Feel Good Desserts!

Of course, I immediately added a package to my basket. They had two samplers, each with four macarons. One was fruity flavors and another chocolate flavors. I’m honestly not sure which would be more traditional, but I went with the chocolate set. It contained one chocolate, one hazelnut, one vanilla, and one coffee macaron. The outside was firm, but the inside was so soft! Each flavor stood out but none were overpowering. These were a really delicious and delicate treat! It was fun to have such a novelty item and I am glad that they are available online as well (though in larger quantities).

Alex Co Founder Feel Good DessertsWe started Feel Good Inc. to become a part of the Vegan and Health movement and prove Vegan is not just for skinny Models but for health oriented people . Would you eat an Organic Vegan Macaron that’s never hurt a soul like ours or the other kind ? Would you feel good having 1200 calories of regular cheesecake or 450 of healthy Superfoods based Vegan Mouse Cake ? The choice is yours. After working in a medical field for seven years as a surgical assistant and seeing many health issues in patients that could be fixed with proper nutrition and vegan-based diet we decided to look for a way to change our lives and those around us. We eat well and feel well living this way. From the very first days of switching to the Vegan Organic diet we felt an increase in energy level, happiness and a lower level of stress ! We wanted to share our experiences with other people through our products. Many studies are showing that Organic Vegan diets low in gluten and low in Processed Sugar along with proper Nutrition and exercise may lead to healthier life with less disease. Why organic? We took a lot of our knowledge from the books like The China Study and Superfoods by David Wolfe . From films such as “Forks Over Knives” and “Food Matters”.

Vegan French Macarons Feel Good Desserts

Review: Vegan French Macarons from Feel Good Desserts

May 6, 2013
Since becoming vegan, I can honestly say that I have not missed any non-vegan foods.  I have, however, often wished that my favorite cookie, French macaroons, were vegan.  I’ve not missed them.  I’ve just been bummed that there were no vegan versions.
Well, I am bummed no more!  Feel Good Desserts has created vegan French Macarons that so closely resemble the original pastel-hued cookies that I had to double-check their website to make sure they were vegan.  Right now, they are sold at Backstage Café in Burbank (though, they don’t seem to have any other vegan offerings.  I could be wrong about this, but I wouldn’t go there expecting a vegan meal).
I discovered Feel Good Desserts and their wonderful little creations a few months ago on Instagram.  I doubted that they could taste as good as the non-vegan version and I was positive that there was going to be some weird texture issue.  I didn’t make it an immediate priority to try them.  When I started my new job, just minutes from Backstage Café, I knew I had to try them.  Once I arrived and was asked what flavors I wanted to try: Chocolate, Pistachio, Raspberry, Blueberry, Hazelnut, or Banana, without skipping a beat I replied with “Two of each, please.”  To do a full review, I felt that both Chris and I needed to try each of the flavors.  To be fair and scientific and all of that.
We were absolutely blown away after the first bite.   These cookies are legit.  They taste and have the same mouth feel as the originals but the flavors of each cookie are so much more intense!  The chocolate is soooo chocolatey and the banana (yes, banana!!!) tastes just like a banana but even better.  All of the flavors were wonderful, though the Chocolate, Pistachio, and Hazelnut were definitely the front-runners.
The day I finally got to bite into a vegan French macaroon was one of the happiest days I’ve experienced since becoming vegan.  Not only was I ecstatic to be reunited with my favorite cookie, it was pretty uplifting to see that yes, vegans can and will find a way to make vegan versions of everything.  If you don’t live near Burbank, don’t fret.  Feel Good Desserts is working on making shipping possible so hopefully soon everyone can try them.  If you are near Burbank, don ‘t walk, RUN to Backstage Café and pick some vegan French Macaroons up for yourself.
